    Simon Caton

    Simon joined Talbot Hughes McKillop in April 2016 and has over 15 years experience with stressed and distressed business. Most recently Simon was a Director in the Restructuring team at National Australia Bank with responsibility for formulating strategies and managing the bank's risk position. Prior to this Simon worked for Ernst & Young in both London and New York advising a range of corporates, lenders and private equity sponsors on restructuring cases.

    Major Recent Projects

    • Led NAB’s participation in the restructure of a private hospital, considerably de-risking the bank’s position while enhancing the security package available to all lenders.
    • Worked alongside management of global recruitment business through three year work out program, involving subsidiary disposals, overseas debt refinancing, and raising of new ABL facility, ensuring 100% recovery for lenders.
    • Secured NAB’s exit from complex syndicated restructurings via secondary debt markets ahead of lengthy insolvency processes.
    • Advised board of major Irish Telecom business on multi billion Euro debt restructuring and strategic options.

    Carly Gatoff

    Carly has over 13 years experience in complex financial restructuring assignments across a number of industries and European countries.

    Prior to joining Talbot Hughes McKillop, Carly worked in the corporate restructuring practices of Andersen and Ernst & Young. She also spent one year on secondment in the Distressed Credit Portfolio department of a major investment bank.

    Major Recent Projects

    • Adviser to the board of directors of TMD Friction, a major global automotive component manufacturer, on the financial restructuring of the group’s €1 billion debt.
    • Adviser to a hospitality business with turnover of £100 million on restructuring its banking facilities, cash flow management and operational improvement.
    • Independent business review of two divisions of a global support services organisation with revenues of c£1 billion.
    • While on secondment at the investment bank, Carly managed a number of clients through the restructuring process across different sectors including telecoms, retail and manufacturing.

    Simon joined Talbot Hughes McKillop in July 2012 and has over 13 years experience working in professional services. Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in 2006, Simon has gained a wide range of experience as a professional adviser, having been involved with operational turnarounds, due diligence assignments and investment appraisal. Most recently, Simon has been working as an adviser to the owners of a European real estate portfolio where he was responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the business.

    Major Recent Projects

    • Adviser to a Dutch based European real estate portfolio. Simon has spent the last two years working closely with the owners of a European real estate portfolio and its lenders where he was responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the business, including reporting to the Board and lenders in addition to supporting the ongoing restructuring of the real estate portfolio.
    • Adviser to the Board of Travelodge, a UK based budget hotel operator. Simon was responsible for development and management of the day to cash flow reporting during the implementation of the financial and operational restructuring.
    • Director of a UK based start up technology business. Simon was responsible for assisting with fund raising and project management in conjunction with the day to day financial management and reporting for the business.
    • Adviser to the Board of a UK social housing maintenance contractor. Simon worked closely with the Board and stakeholders to implement an operational restructure prior to assisting the company through a disposal process.

    Edward-Taylor

    Edward joined Talbot Hughes McKillop in 2012 and is currently advising on a major international bank restructuring.  Edward previously spent four years in economic and financial consulting at FTI, where he advised on complex business valuations and economic regulation across a range of industries.

    Edward is a Chartered Accountant and has a degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge.

    • Financial adviser to the Informal Creditors Committee of Glitnir, an Icelandic bank with in excess of €15 billion of debt.
    • Economic and financial adviser to BT in a dispute relating to the regulated wholesale price of Sky Sports TV channels before the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal.
    • Valuation of economic damages suffered by an Eastern European oil refinery as a result of the closure of a crude oil supply pipeline in an international arbitration.
    • Economic and financial adviser to the Office of the Policyholder Advocate in the reattribution of a £1.25 billion inherited estate from an Aviva with-profits insurance fund to policyholders.
