    Chris has worked in corporate restructuring for 12 years, advising corporates, investors and creditors across a broad range of industries. Chris has experience working alongside management teams, providing hands-on support during times of stress and business transformation.

    Chris re-joined Talbot Hughes McKillop in July 2017, having spent the previous five years working for a leading financial restructuring practice in Australia.

    Major Recent Projects

    • Adviser to the Board of Jack Wolfskin Germany GmbH, a global retailer specialising in outdoor apparel and equipment, on implementation of the 100 day plan following its €365 million restructuring.
    • Adviser to the Administrator shareholder of the largest manufacturer and supplier of grinding media worldwide on its dual-track IPO and trade sale process, including arranging $420 million of day one IPO debt facilities. The process culminated in the successful $1.2 billion sale of the business.
    • Adviser to the lending syndicate of a listed mining services provider on its A$300 million financial restructuring.
    • Adviser to Four Seasons Health Care on its £1.7 billion financial restructuring.

    Carly Gatoff

    Carly has over 13 years experience in complex financial restructuring assignments across a number of industries and European countries.

    Prior to joining Talbot Hughes McKillop, Carly worked in the corporate restructuring practices of Andersen and Ernst & Young. She also spent one year on secondment in the Distressed Credit Portfolio department of a major investment bank.

    Major Recent Projects

    • Adviser to the board of directors of TMD Friction, a major global automotive component manufacturer, on the financial restructuring of the group’s €1 billion debt.
    • Adviser to a hospitality business with turnover of £100 million on restructuring its banking facilities, cash flow management and operational improvement.
    • Independent business review of two divisions of a global support services organisation with revenues of c£1 billion.
    • While on secondment at the investment bank, Carly managed a number of clients through the restructuring process across different sectors including telecoms, retail and manufacturing.

    Philip is a Chartered Accountant by background and has 12 years of corporate finance experience. He has worked as both an adviser and principal on a variety of restructuring assignments across a range of sectors.

    Prior to joining Talbot Hughes McKillop, Philip worked for Deloitte in their restructuring advisory practice and previously at RBS in their large corporate restructuring team.

    Major Recent Projects

    • Advised the lenders to Frigoglass in the restructuring of the company’s €350 million debt. The restructuring included the injection of significant new money coupled with a sizeable debt for equity conversion.
    • Advised the international lenders to Lonmin plc in the restructuring of their facilities in conjunction with a successful rights issue to provide the business with much needed liquidity and a stable financing platform to operate through the low commodity price environment.
    • Supported the Management of Towergate Insurance during the challenging restructuring which ultimately resulted in a change of ownership from Advent to Highbridge, Sankaty and KKR. Primary role was working with the treasury team to manage liquidity and reporting to the Board.
    • Advised the Board of the leading DIY retailer in the Netherlands through the debt for equity restructuring whereby the mezzanine lenders took ownership over the business.

    Simon joined Talbot Hughes McKillop in July 2012 and has over 13 years experience working in professional services. Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in 2006, Simon has gained a wide range of experience as a professional adviser, having been involved with operational turnarounds, due diligence assignments and investment appraisal. Most recently, Simon has been working as an adviser to the owners of a European real estate portfolio where he was responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the business.

    Major Recent Projects

    • Adviser to the Board of Jack Wolfskin, the international outdoor clothing and equipment brand headquartered in Germany. Simon worked closely with the company’s Board throughout the implementation of the €365 million financial restructuring and then on the execution of a 100 day plan. The post restructuring role included working in both Shanghai and Germany to prepare a revised three year business plan for the group.
    • Adviser to a Dutch based European real estate portfolio. Simon has spent the last two years working closely with the owners of a European real estate portfolio and its lenders where he was responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the business, including reporting to the Board and lenders in addition to supporting the ongoing restructuring of the real estate portfolio.
    • Adviser to the Board of Travelodge, a UK based budget hotel operator. Simon was responsible for development and management of the day to cash flow reporting during the implementation of the financial and operational restructuring.
    • Director of a UK based start up technology business. Simon was responsible for assisting with fund raising and project management in conjunction with the day to day financial management and reporting for the business.

    Iestyn Matthews

    Iestyn joined Talbot Hughes McKillop in January 2018 and has 17 years experience in professional services. Prior to joining THM, Iestyn worked for Alvarez & Marsal, where he undertook various roles encompassing financial restructuring, liquidity management and performance improvement.

    Previously, Iestyn worked for EY in their restructuring team, where his focus was on administrations, independent business reviews and contingency planning. During this time, he qualified as an insolvency practitioner and also performed a year long secondment to the business support unit of Lloyds Banking Group. Iestyn is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute for Turnaround.

    Major Recent Projects

    • Advised Seadrill during Chapter 11, where he was primarily responsible for monitoring and reporting on payments across the group.
    • Acted as support to the CFO of a global retail business with a turnover of €6 billion, helping to forecast year end performance and to implement a liquidity forecast across the group.
    • Advised the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on the viability of a commercial airline including a review of the company’s short term cash flow forecast and business plan.
    • Performed a funding review of an oil and gas exploration and production business including a review of the short term cash flow forecast and business plan.

    Ben Paice

    Ben joined Talbot Hughes McKillop in April 2017 and has worked in corporate restructuring for ten years, advising corporates, investors and creditors across a broad range of industries. Ben has experience working alongside management teams, providing hands-on support during times of stress and business transformation. Previously, Ben worked at Aurelius Investments, a mid market private equity fund focusing on distressed opportunities and corporate carve outs. Prior to this Ben worked at AlixPartners advising a range of clients on both debtor and creditor side mandates.

    • Adviser to the company of a global luggage business in its restructuring of €170 million of debt with lead responsibility for cash reporting and working with the Board to develop and finalise the group’s three year business plan.
    • Adviser to the Conflicts Committee of Seadrill Partners LLC (SDLP), an offshore drilling rigs owner and operator, in the context of: (i) the financial restructuring of its $2.3 billion bank facilities; (ii) the financial restructuring of its $2.8 billion Term Loan B (held by par lenders and secondary buyers); and (iii) SDRL’s (SDLP’s controlling shareholder) Chapter 11 process.
    • Adviser to the Company of Jack Wolfskin Germany GmbH, a global retailer specialising in outdoor apparel and equipment on its €365 million restructuring and implementation of the 100 day plan post restructuring.
    • Investment Manager for Allied Healthcare plc, the UK’s largest provider of domiciliary care following its acquisition by Aurelius Investments, primarily responsible for cash management and reporting and supporting the Board in the achievement of its turnaround plan.
