Murdoch is a widely recognised restructuring expert with almost 30 years corporate restructuring experience acting for both companies and international bank syndicates. In recent years he has led many large restructuring projects in the UK, Ireland, Continental Europe, the US and South East Asia.

Major Experiences
Murdoch joined Talbot Hughes McKillop in 2002 following 31 years with Andersen, including over 20 years in corporate restructuring.
His experience covers a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, property development, extractive industries, power generation, hotels and leisure, technology and health care.
Murdoch is a past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) (2003/4), was President of SPI (now R3) in 1998/9 and was a licensed insolvency practitioner from 1986 to 2010, although he stopped taking formal appointments in the late 90s. He was the Convenor of the Investigation and Professional Conduct Enforcement Committee of ICAS from 2004 until 2010.

- Lead adviser and Board Member on the €1.3 billion restructuring of Quinn Group Limited.
- Lead adviser and Board Member on the £1.7 billion restructuring of the Four Seasons Health Care Group.
- Lead adviser to the Board on the £2.1 billion restructuring of Le Meridien Hotels Group.
- Adviser to the Board in the £5 billion restructuring of Marconi plc.
- Independent Covenant Expert on a £1 billion Pension Scheme.
- Adviser to the Trustees of a £2 billion Pension Scheme following a highly leveraged buyout of the Employer and a subsequent refinancing.
- Led the successful workout of Andersen’s global banking arrangements.
- Adviser to over-indebted oil services group with £300 million debt.
- Restructuring adviser to finance subsidiaries of SAirGroup (Swissair).
- Adviser to the Board of a UK based leisure group on its £200 million financial and operational restructuring.
- Lead adviser to HM Government of Brunei in three year workout of group of companies.
- Led many of the largest UK formal insolvency projects in the early 90s including Maxwell Private Group, Leyland DAF and Ferranti.
